Job Summary

The LATAM Tooling Director I manages and directs Tooling Operations across a large region for both tooling volume and number of employees. Leads the regional team in the fulfillment of tooling requests for field service customers, including managing the operation of multiple tool centers. Develops, adapts, and executes the region rooftop strategy, meeting the financial and operating cost targets while driving safety, quality, and productivity into the tooling business model. This role is a direct interface and partners with the FieldCore Region GMs and customer region GMs to meet or exceed customer requirements and grow the tooling business. Contributes thought leadership and innovation that influences change and advancement of the Tooling Operations Strategy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead region tooling operations with annual liquidations of ~$65MM+. Operations include fulfillment (demand placement, requisition lifecycle, logistics, inventory, re-kitting), maintenance (repair, calibration, safety checks), billing (sales orders), planning & forecasting, and sourcing (restocking)
  • Manage tool center staff of 125+ employees and contractors across 9 tool centers, including balancing between permanent and contractual to best manage peak demand (over half of the total global tooling population)
  • Partner with Value Stream projects team to standardize and optimize Live Outage kits across the region
  • Partner with HR to appropriately manage tooling employees with a focus on positive employee relations
  • Achieve critical tooling KPI objectives including financial cost liquidation, financial efficiency, tool utilization, tool loss, EHS, and quality
  • Develop and execute global region footprint strategy including optimization of tool center locations and rooftop efficiencies through forecasting and business case modeling
  • Drive the adoption of new Global Tooling processes and software tools including ETM (enterprise tooling management software) and demand placement software
  • Manage Global Tooling inventory in the region and its accuracy in ETM, including calibration, safety checks, and certifications
  • Fulfill tooling requests outside of region as needed to meet tool utilization targets and for optimal Global Tooling operation
  • Continuously improve on tooling quality, safety, and design by capturing feedback from field and tool centers in consideration of different tools, new vendors, and redesigns
  • Understand specific local and regional requirements needed for optimal fulfillment, including contractual obligations and special customer requests (i.e. – distance to site, response time, in country tool locations)
  • Plan tooling operations and request fulfillment proactively, based on outage forecasts across service lines
  • Partner with EHS to manage the safety of region tool center personnel
  • Some travel required
  • May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 11+ years progressive experience and demonstrated success/knowledge
  • 6+ years managing and/or developing multi-discipline teams, preferably with international reach across multiple service types
  • 5+ years of specialized/industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • English proficiency required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree or prior equivalent experience managing region tooling operations preferred
  • Deep domain expertise / highly advanced knowledge of tooling across service lines (gas plant, steam plant, renewables, aeroderivative engines, oil & gas)
  • Ability to independently develop and execute functional strategies to solve complex operational situations
  • Effectively interface with executive leadership / GMs
  • People management in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong labor relations background/experience
  • Highly effective in a matrix environment; influence and motivate geographically dispersed and diverse teams to realize strategic visions
  • Strong change management, oral and written communication skills
